Being a professional goes beyond wearing a nice suit. Professional ethics refers to a set of values that govern the behavior of an individual or a group in a business environment and which they should strive to follow. These values are vital as they dictate how a person is expected to act towards other people in the organization. A code of ethics and professional conduct is a guideline to the ethical principles that govern decisions and behavior at any given organization.

The first person to inform in case I feel there is a serious flaw in a product or service our company is developing I would inform the project manager. This is because the project manager is in charge of the entire project and is required by the PMI code of ethics to use it as a general guide to ethical project management and decision making. The project manager is responsible for raising the alarm whenever they see a potentially hazardous situation. With specific solutions, they can solve the issues more appropriately.

Some ethical issues that arise in the distribution of publicly available data include privacy, liability, and the right to exploit the content. Private companies also depend on this public data to power their business. Several companies say that putting data online is appropriate, such as wills that are already in the public domain but are otherwise difficult to access, such as documents and images in archives (Jaconelli, 2012). This allows anyone to access readily online content without revealing their interests. This may benefit the company but may also violate the privacy and property rights of the people benefiting from the inheritance. Privacy is perceived to ne the protection of people’s personal information and includes territorial privacy, physical privacy, and privacy of communication.

In the scenario above, the company should confront how many risks to privacy, security, and safety are acceptable in the system. Individuals who have earned a large amount of money when exposed to the public may compromise their safety, security, and privacy as they become the object of interest to many people (Jaconelli, 2012). Besides, the ethical code requires the company to observe various aspects of professional behavior and responsibility, such as respecting confidentiality, being aware of the relevant law, and honoring contracts and agreements (Jaconelli, 2012). The company should respect the property rights of those individuals. Therefore unless the individual permits the business to share and sell that information to the company, they should refrain from sharing the “new” information.

Gift-giving policies for the workplace are vital because, in some situations accepting gifts would be unethical reading to gift biases affecting a social worker’s judgment. Our company requires gifts to individuals to be turned in at work, where they are used for giveaways at holiday office parties. The organization holds that gifts for an entire department, sharable treats, and items that are low cost, have high utility and perceived value are the safest choices. Various companies have different policies on workplace gift-giving, while others have none at all (Irwin, 2022). Some firms set a financial restriction on the amount of presents employees can take from coworkers or outsiders, such as vendors and clients. Some companies believe that employees should not receive presents or gratitude from vendors or customers for accomplishing the job that the company pays them to do (Vogt, 2002). To avoid the impression of impropriety, the corporation may decline gifts to avoid concerns that could lead to a sense of favoritism and hence discontent among other employees or pupils (Vogt, 2002). Gifts may come up in a discrimination lawsuit if you accept a government job. As a result, gift-giving policies in the workplace differ from one organization to the next.

In conclusion, professional ethics and responsibilities are vital in every organization. If an ethical issue arises, the right person should be informed to ensure it is solved. Ethical code requires the company to observe various aspects of professional behavior and responsibility, such as respecting confidentiality, being aware of relevant law, and honoring contracts and agreements. It is crucial to have gift-giving policies in the workforce to avoid gift biases.
