Q2. What is the impact of language retention and maintenance?
The “Impact of Language Attrition on Teaching Language” is a broader topic with many nuisances, cutting across the relationship between attrition and age, loss of first language, multilingualism, and many more aspects. However, the researcher will narrow down the scope of the study to an issue related to the topic, focusing on an area when I have an opinion. I will then turn the idea into research questions has highlighted in the research questions section.

Interest
I am drawn to the research topic because of its effects on theoretical linguistics, such as language processing and the organization of linguistic information in the human brain. These are areas that are of significant influence to my study of English and literature. Knowledge of the elements of language attrition also significantly influences the study of the first language (L1) and second language (L2) development and dramatically feeds language learning and teaching. Language attrition is also helpful in studying language retention and maintenance, contributing to language teaching in a way that generates long-term outcomes, effective syllabus design, and planning. The reasons explain my selection of the topic.
Research
The researcher will rely on scholarly publications, including journals, book chapters, and linguistics reports to learn about the topic. I will search for the sources from the school library and other scholarly search engines such as Google Scholar, Educational Resources Information Center, ResearchGate, and Google Books.
Target Audience
The primary audience of this work is my supervisor, who will examine and approve my topic. The overall aim of the study is to educate on the impact of language attrition on teaching language; hence other audiences will include students studying English and intend to teach the same, and teachers of English language and other languages.
