outline
Discussion 1
How is an outline a good precursor to writing your draft?
An outline enabled me to design a writing plan categorizing it into topic and subtopics. Besides, it enabled me to choose the right subtopic related to the main topic of adaptive strategy in chronic illness. Also, an outline helped organize the subtopics sequentially and provided a basis for elaborating the topic.
How will you use the outline when writing your draft?
I will use the outline to figure out my topic’s main and supporting ideas. I will also refer to the outline to complete the headings and subheadings into complete sentences. The complete sentences will create a paragraph for the three subtopics and support adaptive strategies in chronic illness.
In what ways does the outline help you organize your ideas?
An outline helps me organize the three subtopics sequentially and create a thoughtful flow explaining the adaptive strategies in chronic illness. Also, it will enable me to organize the ideas in the order of importance, ensuring I do not miss any critical points from illness diagnosis, its impacts and strategies to prevent chronic illness.
What suggestions do you have for your classmate for using outlining as a drafting tool?
I would urge them to use more specific subtopics and connect them with the headings ensuring they serve equal significance.

Discussion 2
Reflect on your responses to those DQ prompts.
For Topics 2 and 3the outline enabled me to elaborate on the topic using the four Kolb stages. For example, in stage two of observations and reflections, I elaborated clearly about my father’s experience with heart disease and diabetes, how the illness affected the entire family and how we responded. I also connected the sub-topics, creating a sequential flow of ideas.
Describe three things you learned regarding the subtopic that reflects college-level learning.
I learned that subtopics enable the systematic presentation of ideas about the main topic. Also, subtopics form a basis for searching and elaborating the main ideas, dividing the paper into smaller sections and formulating a thesis statement.
Explain how research articles you found for your annotated bibliography support the things you have learned regarding your subtopic. Provide citations to the references you describe here.
The research article aligns with the importance of the subtopics. For example, the article ” Living with a chronic illness” follows Kolb’s subtopic stages. Adams et al. (2002) use stage one of concrete and experience to expound how type 1 diabetes causes distress and other psychological problems among the teens (Adams, 2002). Besides, the authors assert that self-regulation is a protective measure against diabetes. Also, in the article “An integrative review of chronic illness mHealth self-care interventions” main ideas are arranged systematically, highlighting the effects of chronic diseases such as increased cost of living, high public health burden and high prevalence rate. For example, in the U.S, the cost of chronic illness is high (Sockolow et al., 2021). These costs are associated with high medication costs and other economic challenges of the inability to work.
