Health Care Issues

Healthcare challenges such as lack of healthcare insurance, workforce shortage, and technology disruptions influence healthcare systems in providing convenient care services to patients. Notably, the shortage of health insurance covers led to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) (Marshall & Broome, 2021). ACA aimed to provide patients, especially those of low and middle-income levels, control their health by making health services affordable, accessible, and of high quality in the USA by providing health insurance cover to the uninsured (Marshall & Broome, 2021). Many organizations have felt the impact of the affordable care act. Health Insurance Act has improved health care services by reducing the number of uninsured individuals in the USA, leading to improved health care and a low rate of disparities (Marshall & Broome, 2021). North-East Baptist hospital has felt the impact of the affordable care act over time since the development of ACA. For instance, ACA has led to a reduction of patients in the ICU levels due to quality care services. Additionally, ambulance services have increased, allowing patients from emergency rooms to urgent care services and primary care services (Palumbo, Rambur & Hart, 2017). It has also led to the provision of screening services in Baptist Hospital due to affordability, increased diagnosis of chronic diseases as patients can access health systems. Therefore, accessibility of insurance services has played significant roles in the Baptist Hospital.

The organization’s Response to the effect Affordable Care Act

Availability of health insurance covers has allowed the organization to make various healthcare systems modifications (Marshall & Broome, 2021). Through the provision of health insurance coverage through ACA, health care organizations are transferring their service providers to caregiving services and ambulatory services. This has led to creating new job opportunities that entail providing care services and developing new care models such as the nurses’ Well-being framework that aims to promote nurse’s welfare who offer good services to patients (Jacobs, McGovern, Heinmiller & Drenkard, 2018). ACA has impacted organizations positively.

The affordable care act led to the accessibility of health services, increasing the number of patients in hospitals. This has led to an increase in the demand for nurses and other caregivers. To address this, Baptist hospital created a nursing residency program. Nursing residency programs finance new graduates’ training with their choice of specialization in the nursing field (Hansen, 2013). During the training, they are provided with salary incentives, thus encouraging new nurses to work in the organization and their specialization area. Besides the nursing residency program, Baptist hospital provides scholarship programs to their employees to acquire further studies in masters and doctorate programs. After completion of training, the hospital promotes these employees as nurse practitioners. This encourages the retention of nurses in the organization.

In conclusion, the affordable care act has improved health care services solving health insurance issues. It has reduced the number of uninsured, leading to improved health care outcomes. It has also necessitated an increase of nurses to cater for patients in caregiving s and ambulatory services. To address the need for more nurses, organizations have adopted different initiatives such as creating nursing residency programs. Therefore, the affordable care act has played significant roles in solving health care issues.
