Combating the College Struggle

Five qualities that a student needs to succeed in college include organization, time management, active participation, determination, and self-discipline. Organizing lockers, computer disks and having a planner is a crucial organization strategy that minimizes preparation or lateness in submitting assignments. Besides, one must manage their time and schedule all activities to avoid missing out essential ones. Active participation exposes students to opportunities and clears all concerns. Also, one has to be determined to commit themselves to meet all their learning objectives. Lastly, both determination, organization, and time management demand self-discipline. Thus, self-discipline will enable students to take deliberate steps to do the right things at the right time.

Some challenges that might occur in the college journey include time management. While it is a critical factor to success, much time is spent learning, on projects, extracurricular activities, and part-time jobs. That leaves little recreational time or socialization time. Also, despite reading and revising rigorously, some courses are complex or too demanding. Others might seem too simple and trick someone into overlooking them. In the end, scoring a low grade is a devastating challenge that will affect the final score. Also, study groups are part of college life; but some study groups do not work out either due to lack of cooperation or lack of resources. These are challenges that might interfere with coursework progress and the ability to reach goals.

Nevertheless, I am determined to combat them. I will use time management tools such as phone applications and reminders to make sure I have a balanced study-work-personal life. I will actively participate in all subjects and engage brighter students and instructors to avoid low grades. Lastly, I will mobilize my study groups to work against all odds, and if the challenge persists, change to another group.
