Leadership
Often, people know what they want to achieve in their life or understand organizational goals, yet fail to achieve them. A recent study has attributed this failure – citing organizational failure, to existence of inadequate leadership system (Habersang et al., 2018). This reveals the significance developing and understanding the impact of individual’s leadership styles and their relationship to personality. As such, one is likely to garner more influence through from their personality, which should be complemented by leadership styles and skills. I have learned this concerning my self and found that I am a coach, working through transformational leadership.
I am compelled in every situation to take action, mobilize people into taking appropriate actions, and in the long run, achieving positive change. American healthcare sector functions below optimal level due to increase service delivery model that seeks to promote universal healthcare coverage, and make profit at the same time. This is due to lack of professional accountability, which has harmed the sector adversely (Roussel, Thomas, and Harris, 2020). As an agent of change, I have been working at the micro level to impact change which may hopefully escalate to the macro level in the healthcare sector. I understand that creating a significant wave of change is seldom for an individual, and the existing systems may be resistant. Nevertheless, Roussel et al. (2020, p.29) explain that “transformational leaders mobilize their staff by focusing on the welfare of the individual and humanizing the high-tech work environment.” That is why I believe my zeal to take action, mobilize fellow healthcare practitioners and stakeholders into adopting care competent models best describes me as a transformative leader.

Additionally, I am passionate about promotion of competence in healthcare profession, which I partake through coaching. As explained by Roussel et al. (2020, p.50), professional competence is achieved through affiliation with professional organizations and a system of values among other factors. The American Nurses Association (2016, p.27) adds that responsibility for collaboration practices and interprofessional teamwork are among the nursing commences needed in the American healthcare sector. This revelation has enabled me to follow my passion to promote competence in the healthcare sector through coaching. While coaching has been an inherent attribute since childhood – as I was a coach in several athreptic sports in high school, the utility of this coaching skills is now very apparent. I sport gaps or opportunities in people, and through transformational leadership skills such as communication and relational competence, devise means of unlocking their potential. Besides, I help people adopt healthy lifestyles by showing them in practice. This is beyond the nursing role to educate, where I get hands on practice with patients regarding nutrition, wellness, or health practices. For instance, I have recently helped a patient with stress management issues through guided imagery. While I am not a certified coach, the identification of gaps or opportunities, and taking the steps to unlock potential warrants me to identify as a coach in leadership perspective.
To sum up, I am a coach who exercise transformational leadership style. I love to take charge in mobilizing others to correct the flaws in organizations or improve systems to achieve positive change. Besides, I identify gaps or opportunities in healthcare sector, and coach stakeholders to unlock potential. That way, I am compelled to influence all healthcare stakeholders to achieve competence and thus better health outcomes.
